Mike Edwards, MSW, RSW
Mike was born in Winnipeg. He is a fourth generation Winnipegger. He is the oldest in a family with three boys. Growing up, his Father had his own business making stained glass windows, and his Mother was a teacher for people with intellectual disabilities.
Mike got his start as a helper supporting people with intellectual disabilities in 2005. This led to an interest in Social Work. He graduated with his MSW in 2014.
In 2009 he was introduced to Narrative Therapy. Narrative Therapy views life as made up as many stories, which can be both helpful and harmful. Narrative Therapy also provided an understanding of how our contexts play a part in supporting the stories we live; a part that controls which stories are in the foreground of our lives, and which fade into the background. As a result, Mike became interested in the overlap between counselling, social justice, and community development.
